I've been building web-based software for over a decade. During that time, I've helped build 2 software businesses from scratch, done a variety of consulting work, and contributed to the open source community.

Co-Founder / Lead Engineer 2010 - Present

  • Built a suite of web-based applications that help healthcare organizations deal with HIPAA and other privacy/security concerns.
  • Used everyday in 100's of hospitals across the United States.

Founding Engineer 2012 - 2014

Tech Advisor 2014 - Present

  • Built a software-as-a-service platform that automates the process of filing bankruptcies.
  • Used by 1000's of lawyers across the United States
  • Technology Stack: Ruby-on-Rails, Angular.js, PostgreSQL
  • Built the initial product, then helped hire and manage a team of engineers to take over day-to-day development.
  • Since then, I've stayed on as an advisor to help with product and technology decisions and help with hiring.
  • Company acquired by <a href='https://www.fastcase.com' target='_BLANK'>Fastcase</a> in 2019

Consulting Work

Hubspot (2012)

  • Built the original prototype for their Gmail plugin (This was before Gmail had an API for this sort of thing)
  • Chrome Extension that used Javascript to insert contextual data from Hubspot’s API into a widget next to a conversation thread.

Dynamit (2012)

  • Built a single-page web application for a local development firm, <a href='https://www.dynamit.com' target='_BLANK'>Dynamit</a>.
  • This spreadsheet-like app allowed the user to drag tasks to employees and then manipulate the schedule by dragging the task backward or forward in time or stretching it longer or shorter, among other features.
  • Used Backbone.js, CoffeeScript, Jasmine, and jQuery

Contract Lumber (2012)

  • Web application that allowed their customers to bid on products.
  • Built using Ruby-on-Rails, Coffeescript, HAML, Jasmine, Rspec, PostgreSql, and Less CSS.

Alliance Data Systems (2011)

  • Trained their QA team to use Ruby, Rspec, Cucumber, and related technologies.
  • Built the architecture for performing automated tests on their large, Java-based financial application.

M/I Homes (2007-2011)

  • Lead developer on their public facing website as well as many internal tools
  • Asp.net MVC, C#, jQuery, SQL Server
